Open Enrollment Timeline
Online DE School Choice Application period opens on Monday, November 2, 2026 @ 8:00 a.m.
NCS Open House for grades K -12 will be held Thursday, December 10, 2026 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. All buildings will be open and staffed; list of addresses are below. No registration is required.
Online DE School Choice Application closes on Wednesday, January 13, 2027 @ 11:59pm
Only complete applications received during the Open Enrollment period will be included in the Newark Charter School admissions lottery.
District/School Parent Notifications will be sent in early February 2027.

The DE School Choice application period for the 2027-2028 school year will open on November 2, 2026 and will close on January 13, 2027. The free, online application is available from our website. Newark Charter School hosted an Open House for prospective students and families on Thursday, December 10, 2026 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. All buildings will be open and staffed; no registration is requested. Those who wish to apply after the Open Enrollment deadline may request an application from the NCS Office. Once received, the application will not be included in the NCS admissions lottery and will be placed on the waiting list in the order received.
Important Information:
All applicants must first pre-register in their feeder pattern district school of residence, if not already registered in a Delaware public school, and then must complete a standard choice application form during the school choice application window for the 2027-2028 school year. The Public School location map helps determine your district school of residence.

Applications must be received during the open enrollment period in order to be included in the lottery.
Applicants must be Delaware residents at the time of application, lottery and enrollment.
Interested students who have been placed on a waiting list for Newark Charter School in the past must reapply for the 2027-2028 school year.
Siblings of current students must submit an application during the open enrollment period to be considered for admission.
A separate application must be completed for each student interested in applying to Newark Charter School.
All Kindergarten applicants must be at least five (5) years of age on or before August 31, 2027 to apply for Kindergarten in the 2027-2028 school year. No child may participate in the Newark Charter School lottery for admission to Kindergarten more than one time. (for specific details, please review the Admissions Procedures via the link provided).
Those who wish to apply after the Open Enrollment deadline may request an application from the NCS Office. Once received, the application will be placed on the waiting list in the order received.
The school will confirm receipt of all applications via email. Please validate this confirmation and contact the school if there are any discrepancies. If no discrepancies are reported to the school, the applicant confirms the data to be accurate. If no email is provided, confirmation will be via letter.
Enrollment is open to all Delaware residents. In the event that the number of applications exceeds the number of openings, a lottery will be used to select students, with preferences given as noted in the admissions procedures, which can be downloaded from this page.
