Tuberculosis Volunteer Questionnaire
All school students, employees. and volunteers are required to be screened for tuberculosis (TB). The purpose of this requirement is to safeguard school-aged children from exposure to TB in the school setting. This questionnaire is designed to identify volunteers who MAY have been exposed to TB and thus need further testing. A school designee will collect and monitor the Health Questionnaire, which will be stored in the School Nurse's office in a confidential manner. The questionnaire must be completed every five years. The volunteer may prefer to provide evidence of TB testing in lieu of completing the questionnaire.
Daily Recess Supervision
Parent volunteers are needed to help with monitoring daily recess in the Primary School…regardless of weather. Please contact Primary School Principal Mrs. Boonin at wendy.boonin@ncs.k12.de.us if you are interested in being a recess volunteer for grades K-3.
Homeroom Parent(s)
Homeroom parents serve as centralized coordinators to assist the classroom teacher throughout the year by helping to disseminate information to parents, coordinating homeroom participation for a variety of school-wide events including annual fundraisers.
Copy Helpers
Teachers welcome volunteers to assist with daily and weekly copy needs for the classrooms.
Annual Fundraising Events
Annual Auction: The annual auction, held in November, is the largest single fundraiser event for Newark Charter School. Volunteers are needed to serve on the planning committee as well as assist the day of the auction. Please contact Mrs. Sharon Dorr at sharon.door@ncs.k12.de.us if you are interested in joining.
Monday Folder Volunteers
Each primary school classroom is in need of a volunteer to assemble the Monday folders and assist with the coordination and distribution of key information from the school to the NCPS families.
Field Day Volunteers
In the spring, grades K-6 participate in a half-day of outdoor field events and games. Parent volunteers are asked to help staff the events.
