Chromebooks

Every student, K - 12, at Newark Charter is assigned a Chromebook for school use. At the start of each school year, families must pay the annual $30 Chromebook Accidental Protection Plan fee. Details on the Accidental Protection Plan can be found below, along with some helpful tutorials and troubleshooting tips.

Chromebook Initiative

We are pleased to provide students in grades K-12 with a school-issued Chromebook to support student learning.  The school-issued Chromebook is for instructional purposes for the duration of the school year both in and outside of school. We need your support and partnership to ensure implementation goes as smoothly as possible.  In an effort to educate students and families we have prepared a brief video outlining logistics, expectations, and policies.  Chromebooks will be distributed to students on material distribution days to those students who have completed the review of the video, policy review and have paid the Chromebook Accidental Protection Policy fee.

**Note – Failure to pay the fee will result in their device becoming inactive.

Chromebook Cases

Starting in the fall of 2024, students may not place stickers on new chromebooks. This primarily affects students in grades 9 (class of 2028) and Kindergarten (class of 2037).

If students want to personalize their chromebook we recommend purchasing a protective case. Students can then apply stickers to the case.

We don’t have any specific recommendation for chromebook cases. Students in Kindergarten and 9th grade will be receiving a “Dell 3110 2 in 1” chromebook. You can use that model in your search.
