Unified Flag Football team wins State Championship

Newark Charter School became the first-ever Special Olympics Unified flag football state champion with a 35-28 win over McKean High School on Saturday, December 3. The game was played at Delaware Stadium with a large fan base in attendance for both teams.  The win was not only the first for any school in the newly created Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association football division, but it was the first state championship in any sport for Newark Charter School. According to Special Olympics Delaware, it is also believed to be the first time in the United States that a high school's first state championship was captured in a Special Olympics Unified sport.  Congratulations Patriots!
