Patriots Win the Delaware Stock Market Challenge
For the fifth consecutive year, Newark Charter School has the winning team in the Delaware Stock Market Challenge, which is coordinated and monitored by the University of Delaware and the State Department of Justice. The team of Alex Esenyan, Rahul Konkimalla and Taran Venkatesh managed to successfully invest a starting portfolio of $100,000 that grew over a ten week period to $129,965.05 to earn the #1 spot (out of 122 throughout the state). This team was able to maintain a portfolio that showed a 20% growth rate above the average growth of the S and P 500 during that same 10-week period. What makes this an even greater accomplishment is that this team was able to show this type of growth given the current economic and financial climate that has been a roller-coaster ride to say the least. A virtual reception will be held in January to recognize the team’s accomplishment.
