Junior wins national language award

Gabe Roy, a junior, is recipient of the 2016 Junior Travel Award for his achievement on the National Spanish Examination and for his exemplary studies in the Spanish language. The national award, valued at $3,500, is sponsored by the American AssGabe Royociation of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. It is awarded annually to 24 students from across the country. After their qualifying exams scores, finalists are then asked to submit samples of written and oral work in Spanish. In July, Gabe will travel to Spain with the other 23 winners.“I’m so proud of him. I’m sure they had so many applications,” said Mrs. Joyce Lawless, Gabe’s Spanish teacher.
