A New Era in agricultural science

NCS’s FFA Chapter had 22 students participate in leadership conferences and/or competitions at the State Convention held at Delaware State University in March.  The theme for the convention was A New Era with the focus on the importance of agriculture and technology combining to find innovative ways to meet the demand for food production as our world population increases. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.“This was our first attempt pioneering agricultural events such as milk quality and floriculture events.  We were trying to learn from the experience because we did not know what to expect,” explained FFA advisor Mrs. Melanie Mundell.   FFA members will also participate in the Agriscience Fair held in June and they will compete in areas such as agriscience, horse evaluation, livestock, food science, agronomy, forestry and veterinary science. The following students received awards in events such as Prepared Public Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Job Interview: Olivia Skaug, Tara Cain, Abbey Carbajal, Bobby Badiey, Shewit Tequabo, Lynn Roberts, Dounya Ramadan, Manju Sivasankar and CeCe Pruitt.
