Chromebook Distribution Details (4 - 12)

Greetings Newark Charter School 4th-12th grade Families,

We are pleased to provide students in grades 4-12 with a school issued Chromebook to support remote learning.  Last year, the high school team conducted extensive research and visited local schools that led to a very successful 1:1 device adoption.  We are building from this work and utilizing policy documents and communication tools so that we can quickly support students in grades 4-12.

The school issued Chromebook is for instructional purposes for the duration of the school year both in and outside of school.  We need your support and partnership to ensure implementation goes as smoothly as possible.  In an effort to educate students and families we have prepared a brief video outlining logistics, expectations and policies.  Chromebooks will be distributed to students on material distribution days scheduled for September 1st, 2nd and 3rd to those students who have completed the review of the video, policy review and have paid the Chromebook Accidental Protection Policy fee. **Note – Students in grades 10-12 retained their Chromebook from last year and are required to pay the fee to insure their device for the upcoming year. Failure to pay the fee will result in their device becoming inactive.

In order for your student to receive their school issued Chromebook we ask you to complete the following no later than Friday, August 28th:

We have modeled our policies and practices for implementation after the work of other successful schools.  All said, as with any other technical endeavor, in spite of best made plans there will be “hiccups” and we thank you for your patience in advance.
