Spanish Exchange

Newark Charter Jr./Sr. High School students hosted 20 students from Valladolid, Spain from October 5 to 18. Riley McCormick, a junior, has twice hosted exchange students and has also traveled to Spain on an exchange. “This exchange was a wonderful opportunity for students to use what we have learned in Spanish class and apply it to the real world,” she said. “It also allows students to see how everyday things are so different in other countries.”Foreign language instructors Monica Dunbar and Joyce Lawless ensured that the experience was beneficial for all students involved. The group traveled to Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Chesapeake City as well as multiple shopping excursions. “This life-changing experience is becoming an important tradition to Newark Charter students and the Spanish department,” said McCormick.
